Q&A With Our Summer 2021 Interns

As Summer comes to an end, so does our time with our interns Danielle and Hannah. Below are some reflections, lessons and highlights from our summer as a PressReady team!

Q: What made you decide to intern with PressReady?

Danielle: Growing up in the age of social media and seeing how it has really changed the face of PR and communications, I think I have really been able to see the value of knowing how to promote your own brand and using the tools at your disposal to be your own promoter. So when I came across PressReady, I got really excited about the idea of applying my own knowledge and skills in communications and pitching different concepts from past work experience and coursework to bring my ideas to this innovative and creative space and learn more about what it takes to really pitch and launch a brand.

Hannah: As a social media enthusiast myself, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in a field involving using media and technology. The more and more I researched which potential career path I should follow, I was intrigued by social media marketing and public relations. And when Liz and Suki explained PressReady’s internship opportunity to me, I knew it would be a fantastic learning experience. I definitely made the right choice, as I learned so much from the both of them, with their guidance in public relations and marketing, and using social media to gain a following! With their help, I can definitely say I am more passionate about PR and marketing than ever!

Q: What was your favorite part about your internship experience?

Danielle: I enjoyed several aspects of my internship with PressReady, but I would say that the people are what made the experience particularly memorable. This summer was really my first introduction to the world of PR and Suki and Liz were there every step of the way to teach me the ins and outs of the industry and answer any and all questions that I had. I was also lucky enough to have a fellow intern Hannah who I learned a ton from! All together, we created a truly collaborative and supportive environment that I am really going to miss.

Hannah: My favorite part about interning with PressReady was the ability to work side by side with Liz and Suki. I was so fortunate to be able to have the direct guidance and help from two individuals that are so experienced in the PR world. Another part that I loved about interning with PressReady was the ability to run the PressReady social media accounts alongside Danielle! I loved coming up with different ways to provide new ideas and aesthetics for Instagram posts, and loved being able to utilize Canva for graphic designs and images! Additionally, I found creating blog posts for the PressReady blog to be so fun and allowed me to further my love for writing!

Q: Moving forward, what will you take away from this summer with PressReady?

Danielle: More than anything, I am going to carry with me the inspiration I got from working with entrepreneurs. It was so special to watch the behind-the-scenes process of developing a brand identity and figuring out how to best market that brand so it reaches as wide of an audience as possible. PressReady allows entrepreneurs and business owners from all different backgrounds and fields to make their dreams into a reality, and I am very grateful that I got to take part in that process, even if it was just for one summer.

Hannah: Moving forward, I feel the biggest takeaway I had during my summer internship with PressReady was that working in PR and Marketing may be fast paced and can be time consuming at times, yet it is worth every moment. Through PressReady I was able to learn and understand that every business, no matter how big or small, needs a strong PR and marketing team to flourish, and as a result, the opportunities in this field are truly endless. By learning more about Liz and Suki’s career paths, as well as communicating and interacting with potential PressReady clients, I was able to learn that PR and marketing is so diverse, and I cannot wait to learn even more about new mechanisms and techniques in my future as I continue on with my PR and marketing endeavors!
