Support Small and Shop Local
By PressReady Team
Spring has officially begun to sprung and things seem as if they are slowly starting to return to normal. With places starting to open back up, the sun staying out for longer, and the weather warming up now is a better time than ever to shop local and support small businesses. We picked out some of our favorite small businesses and local places to shop from and eat at to inspire you this season!
New York or Nowhere
New York City is such a unique city and a great place to start and grow a small business. A new favorite is a SoHo store, New York or Nowhere. What started as an Instagram handle at the account, @newyorkornowhere during during the pandemic. It shares just why it really is New York or Nowhere. They created a line of fresh merch including shirts, sweatshirts, socks, and more. This past December they made the exciting announcement they would be opening a small boutique in New York City. The in person retail experience does not disappoint and above all shares the love for NYC! They are located at: 436 West Broadway.
Union Square Greenmarket
Whenever we visit a new city or town the first thing we look for is a Farmer’s Market. Farmer’s markets always have the freshest finds and it feels good to shop local and support the local community no matter where you are in the world. The Union Square Greenmarket is conveniently located at Union Square at intersections Union Square W and E 17th Street, open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. A favorite farm stand that we love is Nemeth Orchard based out of Ulster County, NY just north of the city in upstate New York. The fruit is always the perfect light, fresh, and healthy snack for a day of walking around the city. The flowers are always amazing and unique!
Patsys Italian Restaurant
A New York gem is Patsys Italian Restaurant located in the theater district. Patsys has been owned and run by the Scognamillo family since 1944. The atmosphere was homey and comfortable and the staff was attentive and kind because they care. Their location is in proximity to Central Park for a perfect stroll to or from your deliciously filling meal. Best known for their pizza, their other mains are amazing so don’t sleep on their chicken marsala or penne vodka.
Whether you are traveling this spring or staying close to home, do yourself a favor and find some old, new small, family or simply locally owned businesses to enjoy and support. You may discover a hidden gem and a new favorite place. You will also be supporting the community in doing so and helping people build back from what has been such a difficult time. Support small and shop local!
